We are delighted to be running an event on 5th December for ethnic minority led organisations in Glasgow on how community energy can support them.
This FREE event is being hosted by Glasgow Community Energy and Loco Home Retrofit, will bring people together to explore opportunities for community-led, energy focused climate action solutions.
We will share knowledge on work going on in Glasgow and beyond on projects such as:
Installing renewables in community buildings
Managing larger community-owned energy projects
Making homes more energy efficient and low-carbon
Tackling fuel poverty and energy advice projects.
This workshop is specifically aimed at community organisations which are led by and serve the diverse cultures of Glasgow, especially racialized and marginalized communities, to explore how community energy could support them. We will address what we mean by community energy, discuss the benefits of community energy, and issues around climate change. This is also an opportunity for us to hear about the work you are doing, or would like to do, in this area, and to explore ways we all might work together in future to overcome the barriers that people from marginalised groups face in leading and taking part in such projects.
Food from the fantastic Punjabi Kitchen will be provided.
We are also offering a free Solar Energy Workshop and Energy-related activities for children of all ages, if you require childcare during the event.
Please note that there are limited places and if you are interested you need to register on eventbrite.
