Glasgow Community Energy will be an ambitious city-wide initiative installing renewable energy generation on Glasgow’s vacant and derelict land (which comprises 9% of the city’s total area) and on the roofs of public/private buildings.
As a clean, green community-owned powerstation for the 21st Century, we will generate and supply renewable energy to public buildings throughout the city, helping Glasgow City Council to fulfil its commitment to become “a carbon neutral city by 2030”, as well as delivering social and economic benefits to local people.
Focussing our investment in Glasgow’s peripheral areas, Glasgow Community Energy aims to help re-distribute and de-centralise energy / power / wealth from the city centre, and to empower local people through education, art and activism which joins-the-dots between social, environmental and economic justice.
