About

For us ‘community energy’ has a double meaning. Glasgow Community Energy aims to connect and empower local people through community-ownership and democratic involvement in our renewable energy co-operative, as well as by inspiring and sustaining community activism through our Community Benefit Fund.

🎉 This week the amazing Solidarity Souperheroes hosted the second funding co-design workshop for the Cathy McCormack Community Activism Fund. They welcomed us at their Love and Solidarity Community Hub in Castlemilk, complete with breakfast to fuel our discussions!

🌞Our focus this week was ‘What should the aim and priorities of the Cathy McComack Community Activism Fund be?’ & ‘What kind of organisations can bring about the change we want to see?’

🎉 Last week we kicked off our series of funding co-design workshops for the Cathy McCormack Community Activism Fund.

🌞 This participatory process will see future fund development informed by the expertise, experience and input of those who we would like to see benefit. The co-design team is made up of community members who are active in different types of community groups and voluntary sector organisations across the city.

📍Connect Community Trust kindly hosted the first workshop and East End Flat-Pack Meals provided a delicious breakfast. We shared, laughed and discussed what the fund should address and how we should make decisions. All captured by graphic illustrator Clare!

🌞 We’re excited about creating a fund in Glasgow that is designed for and by communities.

💛Learn about Cathy’s powerful story of activism in Easterhouse, climate justice, and community care with the freely available audiobook of The Wee Yellow Butterfly.
